Book Recommendation: The Most Important Place on Earth

What a Christian home looks like and how to build one.

Overview

This work by Robert Wolgemuth delivers a refreshing alternative to secular family life. He offers his readers a picture of family relationships that honor God and seek to fulfill God-given, family roles with grace.

There is beauty in a Christian home that cannot be found in interest-based, secular homes, such as sports, travel, music or other extracurriculars. In a Christian home, things like salvation, forgiveness, hope, happiness, purpose and power are found uniformly. A Christain home normalizes church attendance, prayer, affection and boasts the most impactful discipleship. While youth ministries have their place, leaving the discipleship of your children up to the church is a bad strategy. Wolgemuth points out that youngsters seeing Christian values played out in their home is the strongest indicator of continued pursuit of Jesus. Parents have the most profound impact, and they must do the work. If you grew up in a home where these values weren't found, you may find it difficult to incorporate them into your family life now. But it is certainly not too late! Tips and advice are offered; you'll be empowered to do things today that will have generational impact.

Is This Book for You?

With pointed questions about faith in a world not always friendly to Christian values, Wolgemuth lays out family discipleship in terms that are difficult to ignore. In the face of persecution, does the disciple from your home endure? Today's culture demands strong men and women in the Lord. As a result, I recommend this book if you are about to start a family, are looking for value and purpose as a parent, want an alternative model to the family unit you grew up in, desire to grow spiritually alongside your spouse, or you need a solid paradigm shift of why the traditional family unit so desperately needs to be protected from progressive values, then this book is for you.
